Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan

Victims and survivors of child sexual abuse come from all walks of life. For this reason, the National Office for Child Safety (NOCS) is developing the forthcoming National Strategy to Prevent Child Sexual Abuse in consultation with a diverse range of voices, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians.

NOCS partnered with The Healing Foundation to facilitate targeted consultation workshops to ensure the design of the National Strategy is culturally safe, trauma-informed and appropriately considers the needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

The National Strategy is scheduled to be launched in September 2021. NOCS is committed to working in partnership with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people over the life of the 10 year strategy, to ensure their voices will continue to inform the development, implementation and evaluation of the National Strategy’s policy initiatives. The Office also continues to work closely with Commonwealth agencies to ensure the National Strategy aligns with and complements other relevant government policies, including Closing the Gap and the forthcoming Indigenous Early Childhood Strategy.
